Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)
Conveniently located to serve Guadalajara, Mexico
If tired-looking eyes make you appear worn out even after a full night’s rest, you’re not alone. Many people notice heavier or puffier lids that change how they look. An eyelid lift procedure offers a clearer, smoother eye area without altering your natural features. Nashielli Plastic Surgery Specialists in Guadalajara provides it to anyone wanting a brighter, more defined look.
What Is an Eyelid Lift?
Eyelift surgery, or blepharoplasty, is designed to remove excess skin from the upper and/or lower eyelids. At times, this excess skin is accompanied by fat pads or fat pockets, which are typically located beneath eyelashes. Alternatively, there are cases where only fat pockets remain, with no excess skin.
This surgery, performed by Dr. Nashielli, corrects any or all of the above conditions in the upper and lower eyelids, including the drooping that can make people look tired or sad. It will ultimately give the entire face a more youthful overall appearance, making the eyes appear more open and rejuvenated. Nashielli Plastic Surgery Specialists will help you achieve the results you are looking for.
Ideal Eyelid Lift Candidates
The ideal patient for blepharoplasty is in good physical health and has realistic expectations. If you suffer from sagging skin in the eyelids that causes you to look older or obstructs your vision, the eyelift may be a good fit for you. We’ll review your medical history and examine your eyes during a consultation to determine whether the surgery is right for you.
What Happens During an Eyelid Lift Surgery
An eyelid lift surgery focuses on improving the shape and structure of the upper or lower lids through small, carefully placed openings. These openings sit within natural creases, which helps them blend as they heal.
Once the area is prepared, Dr. Nashielli removes or repositions extra fat and soft tissue to reduce puffiness, smooth folds, and create a cleaner lid contour. In some cases, a small amount of skin is also trimmed to help the lids look more open.
An upper eyelid lift surgery usually targets sagging skin that hangs over the crease or lashes. A lower eyelid lift focuses on bags, hollow areas, or loose skin under the eyes. Dr. Nashielli will guide you on whether you need treatment for one or both areas.
The procedure generally takes one to two hours and is performed as an outpatient treatment, meaning you go home the same day. Sedation options are discussed in advance so you feel comfortable, relaxed, and supported throughout the process.
Eyelid Lift Recovery and Results
Eyelid lift recovery is usually steady and manageable. Mild swelling often peaks in the first few days, and most people return to everyday activities within one to two weeks.
Final results continue to improve as swelling fades and tissues settle over the next few months.
For smoother recovery, follow these aftercare tips:
- Use cool compresses during the first 48 hours to ease swelling.
- Keep your head elevated, including while sleeping.
- Avoid rubbing or pulling on the eyelids.
- Wear sunglasses outdoors to protect the healing area.
- Follow any topical or medication instructions from your doctor.

* Individual results may vary.

Benefits of an Eyelid Lift Procedure
An eyelift surgery offers both aesthetic and functional benefits. This surgical procedure is ideal for those with sagging eyelid skin, which can create a sad, droopy appearance. For some people, this saggy skin becomes so severe that it begins to impair vision. Removing the skin will enhance one’s aesthetic appeal and field of view. When done by an expert like Dr. Nashielli, you can expect a natural look that blends with your facial features.
If you’re considering additional ways to refresh your features, consider other facial procedures.
How Much Does an Eyelid Lift Cost?
The total cost of an eyelid lift surgery varies based on factors like your medical examinations, surgeon’s fee, hospital charges, post-surgery garments, and anesthesia. The exact techniques used will also impact cost, as will the total time needed to perform the surgery.

Eye Lids Needed Lifting
“Definitely needed to have my upper eyelids lifted. An assessment appointment with Dr. Nashielle was easily arranged and a surgical date was set up at that time. Dr. Nashielle is very pleasant and approachable and very professional. You can ask as many questions as you need to make you comfortable with the procedure and she thoroughly explains. Surgery at her Guadalajara hospital is very efficient, all are professional and the post-op is excellent. Follow-up is also excellent. A wonderful experience. Would definitely go back to her and her team for anything else I needed.”
Frequently Asked Questions About Blepharoplasty
What are the risks or complications that could arise from my Eyelid Lift surgery?
As with any surgery, some risks will be evaluated and discussed in the consultation, as some of them will depend on your own personal medical history. Possible complications include droopy lower lids (which resolve over time), scar asymmetry, eyelid swelling, temporary double or blurred vision, and/or wound opening (extremely rare).
How long will my eyelid lift recovery take?
Recovery is generally very fast. Typically, if post-operative instructions are followed, most bruising and swelling will subside within two weeks. During the first few days, you must limit your physical activity to avoid increased inflammation. By the third week, you will have a much more natural appearance, as most of the swelling will have subsided. We recommend taking Arnica 3-5 days prior to surgery and continuing it for at least a week after.
It is important to stay cool and rest, use ice to reduce swelling every couple of hours on your eyes, and sleep propped up. Dr. Nashielli will provide detailed instructions for your particular procedure. After one or two weeks, your results will already be very noticeable; however, the healing process will take several months to complete. You will see your final results in about six months.
How long does the eyelid lift procedure take, and what type of anesthesia is used?
The surgery for both upper and lower lids will typically take 1.5-2 hours. Dr. Nashielli uses a light IV sedation, normally known as “twilight” sedation. Following IV sedation, local injections of anesthesia are used around the eyes. After the surgery, you will go into the recovery room, where you will stay for around an hour before you are ready to return to where you are staying, as this is an ambulatory procedure.
Before leaving, you will be given instructions on aftercare as well as any prescriptions you may need. In addition, your first follow-up appointment will be scheduled between five and seven days after surgery to remove the stitches.
Where will my eyelid lift incisions be, and will they be visible?
The incisions for the upper eyes are done in the crease of the upper lid, and the incisions for the lower eyes are done just below the lash line. Initially, the incision areas will be red and inflamed. As time passes, they will turn pink and eventually fade to a fine, white line. Again, following the proper aftercare instructions is imperative to get the best results. Sunglasses and a hat are recommended to protect your eyes when going outside during the day.
